Aim
To encourage Hackney residents to use their voting power to elect pro Palestine candidates into Hackney Council at the next local elections.
Help support our campaign, Hackney Votes Palestine 2026, in electing a Pro-Palestine council who will end our boroughs complicity in genocide.
We are a grassroots coalition of local pro-Palestine groups and Hackney residents who have come together with the intention of replacing our council with a genuinely progressive, pro-Palestine alternative, who will commit to ending our borough’s complicity in genocide.
After years of campaigning - writing letters, signing petitions, holding demonstrations and even camping outside the town hall - we have realised that Hackney’s existing council has no intentions of ending its relationship with Israel - a genocidal entity - and that we, as residents, have no other option but to remove them from office.
We are supporting an electoral coalition of Green Party and Independent Socialists, who together will be standing against Labour in every ward in Hackney. Each of these candidates is staunchly committed to our goals of fully divesting Hackney’s council pension fund and un-twinning us from Haifa, use their power as members of the LCIV to lobby for the full divestment of London’s pooled pension funds.
We are running monthly action days, where we are aiming to deliver a leaflet through the door of every single address in each of our nine target wards. We are also running a coordinated social media campaign, an extensive community outreach programme (involving collaborating with over 70 local businesses, community organisations and activist groups who have agreed to spread our message and amplify our campaign), and recruiting canvassers to go door to door on behalf of the Greens or Independent Socialists in the run up to the elections.
