Join Our Winter Appeal: Stand with Migrants Across London
This winter, we’re thrilled to build on the success of our last Crowdfunder with a Winter Appeal and a new Community Events Programme.
Our goal is to bring everyone together in solidarity and action. Over the next few months, we’ll host a series of special events—community meals, social gatherings, and activities—that celebrate and support our community. These events will raise crucial funds and create a welcoming space for connection, conversation, and shared experiences.
This Winter Appeal, you’ll have the chance to contribute to both general and specific causes, directly addressing the challenges faced by visitors at Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) during the winter.
Your general donation will go towards:
Legal advice for migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees dealing with destitution and insecure immigration status.
Warm spaces, nutritious meals, and wellbeing activities for 40-60 visitors to our regular Wednesday community days.
Access to essentials like housing, healthcare, food, clothing, and transport cards.
Advocacy work, Raising awareness of the specific barriers migrants face in the UK
Specific “rewards” donations will support urgent needs in two key areas:
Emergency housing assistance – Providing ‘respite’ accommodation for those facing homelessness this winter.
Hot meals – Supporting the running costs of our kitchen, ensuring every visitor has access to a warm meal on community day and a meal to take home.

Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) is a community organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers throughout London. For 17 years, HMC has stood by migrants in Hackney, London, and beyond, offering practical support in a safe, welcoming space where people can rebuild their lives with dignity. Yet, the challenges our community faces have only intensified. In a climate increasingly hostile to migrants, your support is more vital than ever.
