Aim

Help elect the UK's first directly elected Green Mayor in Hackney, to fight inequality, stand up to Starmer, and transform local politics.

Hackney is hurting.

Rents are out of control. More and more are relying on foodbanks. Children in our schools are being excluded at unacceptable rates. Youth services and primary schools are disappearing. Homes are damp and unsafe, while unaffordable luxury flats rise across the skyline.

And yet… our Labour-led council shrugs. They say nothing can be done.

We don’t buy it.

The truth is, councils across the country have been battered by 15 years of austerity. Hackney Labour were perfectly comfortable criticising the previous national government for this, yet now the new government is of their own party, that same energy is missing and the government continues on full throttle with the same broken model. Local authorities are being set up to fail - starved of the funding and ideas they so desperately need.

Yet, political leadership still matters. Even in the face of national failure, local leadership can choose different priorities, and those choices show whose side you're on. In Hackney, too often those choices have favoured landlords, developers, and corporate interests. We believe the council should stand with trade unions, market traders, people on the housing waiting list, families fighting mould, and young people who deserve better.  To  decide how that pressure is handled, whose voices are heard, and what gets protected - these choices are made right here in Hackney. To fight for what we can control, and push for what we should.

We believe Hackney can be led with greater honesty, ambition and care.

That’s why Zoë Garbett is standing to be the Mayor of Hackney in the 2026 council elections. A local councillor and former NHS worker, she’s spent years pushing for housing justice, public health, and a council that listens.

She’s working with Dylan Law, born and raised in Hackney, a former Hackney Youth Parliament member and young activist who is running for councillor in Hackney Downs ward. If elected, she will appoint Dylan as Deputy Mayor of Hackney

Together, they bring a politics that starts with lived experience and refuses to accept decline as the default.

We're proud to be endorsed by the Hackney Independent Socialist Group. Our campaign brings together community voices that have been ignored for too long, and we’re doing it without corporate money or party machines behind us.

We're funded by ordinary people who believe real change is possible. Here's how your donation will help:

  • £10: You will provide canvassing packs for a team of door knockers.
  • £25: This will pay for letters to voters in several streets.
  • £50: This can help us reach Hackney residents via social media.
  • £100: Your generosity will go towards paying for a staff member one day a week.
  • £250: This will pay for a leaflet for a whole neighbourhood.
  • £500: Can help fund a billboard campaign.

Donate if you can. Share this campaign with your networks. And help us build something powerful, from the ground up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All sums donated will go into general party funds. Please note that we will carry out permissibility checks for any donations over £500. In addition, any single donation (or aggregate donations from the same source in the same calendar year) over the reporting threshold of £11,180 will be published on the Electoral Commission website, including the donor's identity.
