Funds raised will support black writers & charities aiding those with missing loved ones. In memory of poet Gboyega Odubanjo.
Join us in honouring the memory of Gboyega Odubanjo, a beloved son, brother, friend and one of the most resounding voices of his generation.
We sadly lost Gboyega too soon, but to honour him, we’ll be running 20+ kilometres in one of his favourite places of all time: Hackney (where he was born)
We're raising funds for the Gboyega Odubanjo Foundation, which continues his legacy by empowering and celebrating black excellence.
Our mission is to uphold Gboyega's vision by supporting aspiring black writers and providing resources to help them break through the systemic barriers black individuals often face in the literary world. Your contribution will directly assist low-income black creatives in pursuing their dreams and amplifying their voices.
In addition to supporting the foundation, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Monitoring Group Charity, which provided invaluable support to Gboyega's family and friends during such a difficult time and to Missing People UK.
Together, let's keep Gboyega's infectious spirit and beautiful mind alive as we honour his legacy and empower the next generation of black writers. We miss you so muchYega and your impact will never be forgotten.
The Hackney Half will be taking place on 19 May - Join us for a few pints of well-deserved Guinness after the race!
Stay decent,
Naomi and Jodie
