We will aim to use donations beyond our initial target for the voluntary patrols, but if we find that this is not needed, additional donations will go towards supporting Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club, which gets children, teenagers and adults of all ages involved in surf life saving.
- We are raising £4,000 to support our work providing a voluntary beach patrol at Gyllyngvase beach, Falmouth.
**UPDATE**
The RNLI lifeguards are now back at Gylly. We have provided a patrol from 10am until 6pm every day and now will move to covering the beach outside of RNLI hours, for example, during summer evenings and over October half term. This is a new venture for the club and one which money raised on our Crowdfunder will help to support.
So far, we’ve relied on the basic equipment and supplies of the club and its volunteers. We are in desperate need of additional equipment and PPE to allow us to carry out our voluntary beach patrols effectively over the coming weeks, and to allow us to extend the level of cover provided by our patrols. This includes:
- Sun cream
- Hand sanitiser, disinfectant, wipes and spray
- Uniforms and hats
- Beach safety signs
- Specialist rescue equipment - throw lines, tow lines
- VHF radios and waterproof binoculars
Any donations beyond our initial target will be used for additional equipment and supplies, or will otherwise go towards supporting Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club, which gets children, teenagers and adults of all ages involved in surf life saving.
