Gwlad's Campaign for the 2026 Senedd Election

Aim
We want to raise money for our 2026 Senedd campaign, to show Welsh voters that their choice isn't only between Plaid Cymru and Reform UK.
What if there were a party that is Welsh to its core, with its sights firmly set on independence, but which knows that real independence can’t exist without economic independence? That has independence as its goal, but economic revival as its priority?
And what if that party also understood that the way to do this is to do what has already worked around the world: smaller government, free markets, a business-friendly environment, and a willingness to strike out and take a lead?
There is such a party: Gwlad. We haven’t been around for long. Our growth has been steady, organic, but slow – we have one county councillor, a handful of community councillors and a fledgling branch network.
But we’re ready to go to the next level. We have some outstanding people with solid backgrounds in business, engineering and even the military. Not a single one is a professional politician. We have a detailed and well-researched Manifesto.
In the real world, all of that will take us only so far. Going beyond that takes money. We seek your support to grow our profile, make a real impact in this year’s Senedd elections campaign, and show that Wales really can have a future which is better than any other party dares imagine.
Until now, we have been funded entirely by membership subscriptions and direct donations from members and supporters. These have been sufficient to finance our growth to date, and we have succeeded in raising enough money to pay a full-time campaign manager – the ex-BBC and ITV journalist Anna Brees– for the duration of the coming Senedd campaign.
However, to make an impact we are going to need additional funds for:
- Generating professional-quality social media output, on all available channels, in volume, and paying for advertising on those channels.
- Creating and distributing ‘physical’ campaign material – leaflets, posters, hoardings, press advertisements etc.
- Rental costs for constituency campaign offices; phone banks (and most likely paid staff to operate them)
- Organising events – venue rental, catering, publicity, travel expenses
- Specialised software for tracking voter response, enabling us to target resources at those most likely to be supportive.
- Security – already, some of our candidates and prospective candidates have been subject to threats and intimidation from supporters of other parties, particularly in the Valleys.
- Compliance – record-keeping and reporting to ensure compliance with electoral law.
Naturally we would value ongoing support beyond this year’s Senedd election, in preparation for next years Wales-wide council elections and every other opportunity we can take to raise our profile.
Who can donate:
- Individuals must be on the UK electoral register (even if they are registered as ‘overseas electors’)
- Foreign nationals who are on the UK electoral register.
- Businesses registered in the UK
By UK electoral law, we are not allowed to accept donations over £500 from other sources.
