Aim
Growing Forward enables people to improve their mental and physical wellbeing through Social and Therapeutic Horticulture and counselling.
We are a small team of dedicated people wanting to make a difference to local people's lives in Nottingham.
Growing Forward fills gaps left by other local social services. We reach people before their health further deteriorates; we assess their needs and support them into further opportunities through our small client-centered community garden space.
Donations will enable a greater number of people to be supported to improve their mental health and wellbeing through Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) delivered by trained and experienced practitioners. It will allow us to engage and enable this diverse client group with the tools to overcome physical, mental or social difficulties.
This funding will assist to allow more regularity into our clients’ rehabilitation journey from our service; with time, the hope is that these clients become fully participating project team members and join a peer system to encourage others.
We want to build on what we do and enhance our Wednesday STH sessions for 38 weeks for an extra 30 clients, 14 of which will have access to counselling as needed; others will gain one-to-one skills and assistance with travel to get to the garden sessions. Growing Forward needs finances for admin support as we currently do it voluntarily; we want to to gain further client recruitment and referral support totalling 4 hours p/w - £4,160 for year.
3 hours support worker and as needed a counsellor tailored to individuals, totalling £2,850 for 38 weeks of project delivery.
