Aim
We want to be able to offer even more enjoyable, welcoming and accessible cricket to our local community
Who are we?
We are Aston on Trent Village Cricket Club. Setup only 10 years ago with the aim of bringing a cricket club back into the heart of our community. In that time we've gone from a group of aging blokes having a handful of friendly matches, to a club providing inclusive access to cricket for all abilities, from age 5 upwards. In that time we have always remained true to our pledge, that cricket at our club will always be based on "availability, not ability"
Why are we crowdfunding?
We currently have cricket offerings to suit most needs. With softball and hardball offerings for juniors and adults and a softball format ladies section. However there is scope to keep building on this and offer even more, as well as provide more ad-hoc access for the community - providing another gateway to cricket as a sporting activity. To be able to do this we are in desperate need of an artificial wicket to sit alongside our existing grass wickets.
How we’ll spend the money raised
All funds raised will go into the install of a non-turf, artificial wicket. This will allow us to expand the availability of our facilities and our cricket offering. If we are able to raise at least £5,820 through at least 25 different people then we will secure a very generous match fund of £5,820 from Sport England’s Movement Fund - so please, please, please donate generously and help us hit our target
Community impact
We know there is need for increased access to what our club has to offer. By realising this we will be able to expand the number of local boys, girls, mums, dads, brothers & sisters getting involved in cricket. As our pitch sits on open recreational land, It would also provide a facility for ad-hoc cricketing activities for any number of our local community and community groups
