We did it
On 15th February 2020 we successfully raised £1,440 with 47 supporters in 28 days

To provide a full day's excursion to the children of Grove Adventure Playground - A tour of Tower Bridge and return trip on the River Thames

New stretch target

The extra money will allow the playground to hire a coach, (which the children also enjoy), and also take extra staff to help with supervision.

Grove Adventure Playground provides safe and supervised adventure play to children in Loughborough Junction on some of the most challenging and iconic play equipment in South London.

The playground also provides a nutritious meal every day we open and a wide variety of artistic and other activities, including as many excursions and experiences away from Loughborough Junction that we can.

We do not charge for any of these vital services even though we receive no direct funding and can only operate through the generosity of donors, grant applications and a group of dedicated local volunteers.

We have 400 registered children, aged 6-14 years, who live locally within Coldharbour Ward that is one of the most deprived areas in the country and where three murders of young people have occurred in the last two years.

The funding we currently generate does keep the playground fully staffed, open and sustainable, but we simply do not have excess funds to plan and provide the children with the kind of special group experiences and enjoyment that a full playground excursion can.

These days out together are some of the most memorable times the children will have during the year. Last year's excursions included swimming at the Kent coast, a day out in Hampstead Heath and a visit to Tate Modern, which were all brilliant.

We would love to be able to plan a full excursion during every school holiday and if this Crowdfunder project is successful, during February half term we want to take the children on a tour of Tower Bridge and have a return trip on the river with the Thames Clipper service.

We know from experience that many of our registered children rarely leave the borough and some have never had the opportunity to experience visits to historic and important places from the city they live in.

The funds will allow us to pay for the entrance fee to Tower Bridge and Thames Clipper tickets for up to 60 children and a return trip to and from the playground by coach.
