Help us grow more than just food - support a thriving charity that nourishes the community with fresh food, connection & resilience!
by Grounded Community in Bournemouth, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, United Kingdom
At Grounded Community, we’re dedicated to empowering the local area through sustainable food initiatives that nourish both body and soul. Your support enables us to continue and expand our vital projects, fostering a resilient and thriving community.
Grounded Community is committed to providing access to healthy, nutritious food for everyone. By collaborating with local residents, schools, and organisations, we create spaces and programs that promote sustainability, education and well-being.
The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is a restored Victorian walled garden where we cultivate organic produce, deliver our volunteer garden sessions, host educational workshops, well-being events and provide a serene space for community gatherings and corporate days. Located near St. Clements Church, it’s a vibrant hub for learning, up-skilling, growing and connecting.
The Pantry
Our 'Pantry' project redistributes surplus food to those in need, reducing waste and ensuring that nutritious meals reach vulnerable members. This project plays a key role in tackling food insecurity, promoting community cohesion and building resilience.
Community Composting
Our composting project transforms local food waste into nutrient-rich soil, used to enrich our gardens and those of local growers. This initiative helps close the loop on food production and promotes environmental stewardship.
Grounded Gatherers
The aim of Grounded Gatherers is to put surplus food to good use – whether it’s unwanted fruit from gardens, foraged edible plants from public spaces or even supermarket veg that needs using fast. We have created a food space where we are preserving, pickling, cooking, dehydrating and storing foods with the help of the local community.
Grounded Growers
As a charity, we’re committed to teaching people food-growing skills. We love people to come to our garden spaces to learn but we’re also passionate about supporting people to grow their own fruit and veg. Our network of Grounded Growers grow fruit and veg in their gardens, on their balconies, in allotments, on window sills – we’ve even got people growing in care homes and hotel gardens.
Grounded Bee'zz
Wherever we grow plants, we need pollinators – and bees are the best creatures for the job. Today, Grounded Bee'zz has a number of colonies on the Sovereign Centre rooftop and two in the Nursery Garden. Our 'Up Close & Personal Bee-keeping Experiences', run by Bee-keeper Fred are a highlight of our summer events calendar.
Volunteering Opportunities
We offer a range of volunteering opportunities, inviting community members to contribute their time and skills across all our projects. This fosters a sense of ownership and strengthens local connections, volunteers feel valued, inspired and have a purpose within their local community.
Why Your Support Matters
By contributing to our Crowdfunder, you're investing in a healthier, more connected community. Your donations directly support our ongoing projects, educational programs and community events. Since we’re using flexible funding, every pound pledged will be put to good use, regardless of whether we reach our target. This means your generosity is guaranteed to make a difference.
Together, we can continue to grow food, knowledge, and community spirit. Your support enables us to expand our reach, enhance our programs, and ensure that everyone in the local area has access to healthy, nutritious food.
Thank you for believing in the power of community and sustainable food initiatives. With your help, we can cultivate a brighter, healthier future for the area.
