We need £1,500 to help us get our message over in a big constituency where there has never been a Green presence
Membership of the Green Party locally has grown dramatically in the recent past, and there is a real hunger among electors for many of the policies the Greens stand for.
We are the only party that really seeks to reverse the huge inequalities that have arisen in the UK as a result of 35 years of relentless privatisation and erosion of the functions provided by any modern state that is looking to enable all its citizens to live decent, secure and healthy lives and in ways that preserve the planet for the next generations.
We are the only party that would make the minimum wage a living wage, stop the shadowy privatisation of the NHS, make education the free public good that it should be, and deal with the housing crisis that the "free market" will never solve.
However, we are standing against parties, especially the Conservatives, that have built up huge war chests.
We want to run as professional and effective campaigns as we can, to give people the best chance we can to hear our message. Despite the fact that we are using social media to the fullest extent possible, getting a message across is still about a presence on the streets, leafletting and canvassing, to build awareness and momentum among the populations that don't use these media.
To make any kind of mark, then, we need to enable our volunteers to get out into our communities with posters, leaflets and canvassing packs. We need money to hire venues for meetings, and for databases to enable us to target where we deploy our limited human resources.
