Aim

Support Kevin Foster's campaign for York and North Yorkshire. Donate to help him get on the ballot paper and run a really effective campaign

On Thursday, 2nd May residents across York and North Yorkshire will go to the polls to elect their new mayor. 

Right across York and North Yorkshire, the future demands a just transition to a green economy, to make our communities fairer, greener and more resilient. The region needs a Green Mayor at the helm, to deliver the change we need. You can’t rely on other candidates.

Mayoral campaigns are expensive. It costs £5,000 to pay our deposit to stand, and another £2,000 to get our message out across the area in the official election booklet. That's £7,000 overall.

A strong mayoral campaign also gives us a boost in local elections, helping to get more Greens into council chambers.

Kevin is experienced...

He has a proven track record on Richmondshire District Council from 2019 and on North Yorkshire Council from 2022. Kevin leads the Green Group on the Council and is the Armed Forces Champion.

Kevin is hard-working...

Kevin works hard all year round dealing with issues from his own division and across North Yorkshire. He’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty and helps out with litter picks and planting trees. He is one of the driving forces behind the Catterick Garrison Town Centre redevelopment project. He has been involved at every stage, ensuring that sustainability is at its heart.

Kevin is effective...

Kevin and the North Yorkshire Greens get things done by co-operation with other parties. They brought forward a successful cross-party motion to protect the rivers, water courses and sea in North Yorkshire by holding water companies and other polluters to account.

Kevin's key priorities include: 

Securing sustainable jobs

Kevin will promote a Circular Economy so that we hang on to the value we create and retain good jobs in the region.  He will attract inward investment by promoting York & North Yorkshire as an ideal place to nurture and grow innovative, environmentally-friendly businesses leading the way to a Net Zero economy.

Improving Housing & Transport

Kevin will champion affordable housing and high standards for insulation and renewable energy heating systems. We need safe, warm homes that are cheap to run and good for the environment. Kevin supports the £50m York Central brownfield redevelopment.

Kevin says, “It is vital to improve our failing public transport system so that residents can benefit from all of life’s opportunities, particularly employment and education, without relying on access to a car”.

Winning a fair share for York & North Yorkshire

Kevin’s mayoral team will work across party lines, engaging with national government, York Council, North Yorkshire Council and other agencies to bring forward projects that will improve our area. Winning our fair share of grants and investment needs a first-class team that puts the interests of our area ahead of party politics. 

Big decisions are needed to transform the York and North Yorkshire economy, and a Green Mayor will have the finances and power to deliver them.

• Finance to ensure that every home can be warm, insulated and cheaper to heat
• Public transport that is reliable, integrated, frequent and serves every community
• Skills training and apprenticeships for the work needed to transform our economy - insulating homes, expanding renewable energy, manufacturing batteries, green construction
• Support for every community to develop resilience and to prosper.
