To fund an electric minibus: reducing emissions & transporting young people to projects that support environmental and personal welfare.
The Green Team has been connecting young people to nature for over 25 years in response to the sad fact that the likelihood of children visiting any greenspace at all has halved in a generation.
“Green Team days are Jay’s best days. Improving his mood and confidence. On other days if he needed a lift, asking him about Green Team brought a smile. Jay has found nature and plants to be his happy place” Parent
Our programmes have environmental conservation at their core, giving children and young people the chance to make a difference to the natural environment through tasks such as tree-planting, building wildlife habitats, removal of invasive species, path maintenance and litter picks.
Each project improves the understanding, appreciation and care of the natural environment. However they also support young people to build confidence, develop skills, increase resilience, make friends and enjoy their childhood. We are an inclusive organisation with a focus on young people who are coping with poor mental health, struggling at school, dealing with social isolation, recovering from trauma and many other challenges.
“When I get to school I am often feeling sad and angry as no one talks to me, I’m always alone…. I often don’t feel like coming to school. But on Green Team I feel happier at the end of the day”
The Green Team were winners of the 2022 Nature of Scotland, Health and Wellbeing Award.
Your support would help us to replace our ageing, diesel minibus with a new electric minibus - ensuring that we can continue to deliver these vital programmes, with a low carbon footprint, and continue to help young people like Zane:
“I’ve been getting into a lot of bother these past few weeks, but this day has given me the opportunity to do something to take care of myself and give something back to nature too. That feels really good”
