Aim

Help us reach our campaign fund goal to get Green Party candidates Cllr Richard Bennett, Gareth Jones and Ross Monaghan elected on May 7th!

🗣️Bold Ambition for Twickenham

The Local Elections are nearly here and there’s never been a better time to vote Green! Now we need YOUR help to get Green councillors elected who will speak up for what matters here in Twickenham.

For the last 8 years, Green Councillors have been working hard on behalf of residents to make their local areas better. For the last 4 years we've been the official opposition – with our 5 Green councillors punching above their weight. But the 49 Lib Dem councillors are simply not moving quickly enough - on climate, on affordable housing, on protecting the most vulnerable.

There is no need to vote tactically in this election as there is no threat of the Tories winning here. There are currently no Conservative or Labour councillors on Richmond Council. But without Green votes, we risk a Lib Dem monopoly. Without Greens in the room, there is no one to push the Council to do better.

Now the Green Party candidates in Twickenham need your help, especially Councillor Richard Bennett, Gareth Jones & Ross Monaghan, our 3 candidates in South Twickenham!

📈Surging Support. Huge Potential.

We can turn this national surge in support for the Green Party into more seats here, but we need your help to do this. By supporting our campaign in Twickenham, YOU can help get Greens elected. There is already a rapidly growing movement of Greens in Twickenham and all over the country, but we need your help to spread the word that NOW is the time to vote Green.

It costs £200 to produce just one round of A4 newsletters! Even as little as £5 goes such a long way towards this. Your donations will help to fund our most essential campaigning materials including newsletters, letters to voters and social media advertising. We’re relying on people like you to help us get the message out to the residents of South Twickenham.

We’re not funded by large companies, billionaires or dirty money – we’re supported by YOU. The Green Party is proud to be a grassroots movement supported by ordinary people so that we are always free speak up for what’s true and what’s right.

A vote for Richard, Gareth and Ross on May 7th will allow them to demand better for the people of Twickenham.

Campaign FAQs

Q: What have existing councillors achieved?
A: We’ve pushed the Lib Dems to increase affordable housing, re-register as a social housing provider, declare a climate emergency and improve waste and recycling collections. Greens have called for more transparent decision-making and called on the Lib Dems to stop taking vulnerable residents to court over Council Tax arrears. And Greens always put people and planet first.

Q: I already pay my membership fee. Aren’t membership fees enough to support the campaigns – doesn’t that support the party?
A: Becoming a member is an amazing first step! But what we get locally from membership fees isn’t enough for the ambitious campaigns we need to run for these elections.

Q: What will the money be used for?
A: All donations will be used for leaflets, campaign materials, events, support for our candidates and volunteer coordination to run these ambitious campaigns and help get Green councillors elected.

Q: Why do you do so many leaflets?
A: It’s part of a tried and tested strategy for winning local elections – and we know it works. Nationally, we’ve gained around 700 councillors in the last 10 years as a result – now we need your help to make it happen in Twickenham this May!

PLEASE NOTE: As a campaign registered with the Electoral Commission, we are legally required to verify the permissibility of donations over £50. Donors contributing more than £50 must provide their name and address. This information is used solely for statutory compliance checks.
