Aim

To help our campaign to elect Matt Buckler, the Green Party candidate for Derbyshire Dales.

2019 must be the Climate Emergency election, help us to make it so.

We are raising money to run a campaign to get MATT BUCKLER elected as our Green MP in Derbyshire Dales. We are often asked why there was no Green Party candidate on the ballot sheet in a certain area.

Running an election campaign requires money. £500 is required just for the deposit to allow a candidate to stand. In addition, there are the costs of designing, printing and delivering leaflets and posters as well as the exciting activities we would like to run including events, videos and community projects.

Unlike other parties, the Green Party does not accept funding from big business, the finance sector or trade unions. We do this so that we can stay independent from these agendas and act in the best interests of the people. However, this does mean that we have far fewer resources than other parties and depend entirely on our members and supporters to fund all of the amazing work we do. That is why your support is so important.

Matt Buckler was selected as the Derbyshire Dales Green Party candidate in October 2019. He has been an active member of the Green party for 8 years and is Councillor for Matlock Town and Stanton Ward on the Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Matt is an ecologist, working for the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, developing nature based solutions to the climate and ecological emergency. He previously worked with the National Park Authority restoring peatlands with the Moors for the Future Partnership. He is married with two children and lives in Starkholmes, Matlock.

"I want to focus on key Green Party priorities, including climate change and protecting the natural environment. But not just for nature, people and justice are key to this too.  We need new homes in the Dales, but the right homes, in the right place supported and led by our communities. We need to bring about real democratic change, with Fair Votes using proportional representation so that every vote counts."

More and more people are choosing to support the Green Party and the number of Green Councillors in the Derbyshire Dales and across the country is growing.

We need funds to campaign to get Matt elected as an MP at the general Election. It costs £500 for the election deposit and over £1000 to fund a campaign (leaflets, Facebook posts, posters etc.), getting our Green message out during this election. If additional money is received, then the money will be used for future campaigns in the constituency.

Please DONATE TODAY and help us to put a candidate on the ballot and spread the Green message to voters in the Derbyshire Dales.
