Help Islington Green Party to run an effective, well funded election campaign maximising the Green vote in the Islington North constituency.
Donate to help elect Caroline Russell as the Green MP for Islington North. Your contributions will fund campaign materials to start a conversation with thousands of Islington voters, as well as pay for staff time to co-ordinate our campaign. From the beginning of the Green Surge Islington has been at the heart of it all. In the 2012 mayoral elections, Greens came second across Islington North and in 2014. We repeated this success in both the Euro and Local elections, when Islington saw the Greens become the 2nd party across the borough, electing Caroline Russell as a Green councillor for Highbury East; the only opposition councillor in Islington. Greens in Islington North scored some of the best results in London, gaining 22% of the vote across the constituency. We came second, ahead of the Lib Dems and the Conservatives. In our area it's a clear choice between politics as usual with Ed Miliband's Labour or a fresh alternative with the Green Party. With our surge in membership and our Green friendly communities, we just need the funds to boost our effective and well organised campaign. What's more, Caroline is a brilliant local candidate. She has lived in Islington for 27 years and in that time raised a family, been a school governor and community activist. As a councillor Caroline has seen first-hand the challenges that so many people in Islington are facing, not least in coping with inadequate housing, insecure employment and environmental conditions that simply should not be acceptable in a decent society. Islington can't afford another 5 years of austerity, whether delivered by a Labour or a Conservative government. Only the Greens & Caroline offer a fresh alternative. Caroline is also a passionate transport campaigner and serves as the national party's spokesperson on Local Transport. As a campaigner she has a proven track record on making our streets safer for walking and cycling and as an MP would champion healthier more people-friendly streets. Every single donation, however small, will be put to good use and will help us fight a stronger campaign.
