Green House Think Tank is evolving to meet the changing political landscape in the UK. Help us fund essential changes to our website.
The UK political landscape is in turmoil. The two party system is breaking down, making room for parties like Reform and the Green Party to surge in popularity.
However, this turmoil is putting action on climate and ecology in jeopardy.
Reform plan to scrap net zero. They don't believe the climate matters. And they are supported by well-funded think tanks and lobby groups.
Meanwhile, Green Parties across the British Isles are in the their strongest position ever, with a real chance at setting local and national agendas. Despite soaring party membership numbers and increasing party budgets, the grant funding landscape for think tanks, charities and civil society organisations is tougher than ever. Greens need a thriving intellectual ecosystem to push for transformation of our society.
Green House Think Tank is an independent, intellectual force for equal and sustainable politics, drawing in expertise from many fields to make sense of the climate crisis.
Founded in 2011, Green House Think Tank was formed by a group of intellectuals, researchers, campaigners and writers who saw the need for a think tank to counter the lobbying power of the oil and gas industries.
Our mission is to develop green thinking by challenging the ideas that have created the world we live in and cultivate alternatives.
Help Us Evolve
We want to evolve to meet the growing need for insightful, critical perspectives on environment, economy and society. To support healthy debate about ways through ecological overshoot and economic inequality. And to make sure the best environmental thinking stays high up on the political agenda of every party worth voting for.
With so much power in the media in the hands of billionaires, green ideas struggle to gain traction. Mainstream politics is wedded to endless economic growth. Think tanks have a vital role to play in both exploring new ideas and supporting the few elected representatives who are working for a safer, sustainable planet.
