Aim

Funding nature-based education for Hertfordshire children. Building resilience, climate literacy and a mindset movement. One seed at a time.

I burned out. More than once.

And rebuilding myself through nature, movement and mindfulness taught me something that changed everything.

Children need these tools more than any generation before them. Not information about climate change. The emotional capacity to handle it.

I spent 25 years in education watching children and teachers run on empty. I saw the gap. Nobody was filling it.

So I built Green Herts and Minds.

This year I pitched it for the very first time and won funding. I ran two half marathons. I showed up at summits, in schools, in boardrooms. All while navigating DA recovery, tribunals and keeping the lights on as a single parent with a son who has his own challenges with TS, heat being a huge trigger.

I am still here. Still planting seeds.Finding safety and emotional regulation with my accreditations and tools.

Because that is my purpose.

And then a mentor said something that stopped me in my tracks. Why haven’t you done something with your book?

Leo is Lost started as a gift to my class. A real story about a guinea pig left behind on a school farm visit who survived because of the kindness of the wild animals around him.

It became a book about belonging. About breathing. About finding your way back to yourself through nature.

I need your help to get it into schools and into hands that need it.

Every penny funds a real session for a real child in a real school in Hertfordshire.

We need to retrofit and or plant further trees for canopy to regulate and reduce rising temperatures within our educational settings.

Equally from my research and practise having outdoor classrooms are essential as our climate continues to change, the impact on our workforce with a loss of annually of £59 billion due to poor mental health and wellbeing.

Children’s wellbeing is at a critical point. Around 1 in 5 children aged 8–16 in England now have a probable mental disorder, while the World Happiness Report highlights growing concerns around young people’s wellbeing and their connection with nature, community and themselves.

At the same time, schools are facing increasing pressure to deliver enrichment, wellbeing and sustainability outcomes, while businesses are being called to move from ESG commitments into measurable action.

Green Herts and Minds provides a practical solution through nature-based outdoor classroom experiences that support children to develop emotional regulation, resilience, communication skills, critical thinking and environmental awareness.

This funding will enable us to expand delivery into more schools, creating the foundations for healthier, more connected children and preparing the next generation with the green skills needed for a changing world.

This is not just a crowd funder. It is a mindset movement!

And it starts with you to help plant the seeds for change💚
