Aim

I will be rowing the Great Ouse Marathon in a single sculling boat. This is 22km up river , to raise money to fix our club boats

Who are we?

Northampton Rowing Club is a community based organisation aimed at helping local people of all physical abilities to get into rowing.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We have a number of boats ranging from top end racers to training boats for beginners. These have been damaged through general use over time and I aim to raise funds for their repair. The club tries to get new people involved through learn to row courses and then move rowers into the bigger and better boats. These funds will ensure that we can city time to offer this service to the local community.

If you're applying for extra funding, this is a good place to demonstrate why your project is eligible so refer back to the criteria to help complete this section

All funds I raise here will go towards repair of the boats to help get more people involved in sport and moving. I intend to apply to my employer for matched funding and I have already applied to Sport England to match all of these fund. This could mean that if you give £20 this can quickly turn into £80 with the matches funds.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We have a number of boats damaged that we want to repair over the winter but this funding drive is specifically for two quadruple sculling boats called Lisa Eyre and Sophie. These are the back bone of our fleet and will enable the most people to row. The cost of repairs is quoted as £3000. With the matched funding that means if this reaches £750 we could reach our target.

Community impact

Our club has a wide range of ages of members form 12 to 72. There is also a variety of experience levels from those pushing for elite level medals to total beginners who have never even seen a rowing boat.

This club helps everyone reach their potential and live a more active and healthier lifestyle. We also support those who want to coach and enjoy helping others by providing coaching  qualifications and squads to train.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
