Our Club
Grayswood Cricket Club is a vibrant and family-friendly Village Cricket Cub situated to the northeast of Haslemere in Surrey, offering a wide range of cricket-playing opportunities to the local community, including:
- All Stars Cricket for Ages 5 to 7
- Dynamos Cricket for Ages 7 to 11
- Girls & Women’s Cricket from Age 11
- Junior League Cricket for Boys and Girls Ages 8 to 17
- Cup Cricket for Under 19s
- Adult League and Friendly Cricket for Ages 13+
Testing Times
What a difficult year 2020 has been. In the end, the half season of league cricket achieved was more successful and enjoyable than looked possible in the depths of the first lockdown. We should be particularly proud of the opportunity offered to so many younger players to play, from All Stars for junior players new to cricket through to youth players participating in senior league cricket, grounds for real optimism next season and beyond.
Our Appeal
Financially, the year was pretty brutal. No subscription income; no Quiz Night; no Sponsorship income; no bar takings. As a result, we will have made a significant loss, even after a £1.5k grant secured from Sport England and reducing our costs to the bare minimum.
We are therefore launching an Appeal to our members, parents, ex members, friends and contacts. Our target is £5,000 and in achieving this target we will ensure we enter 2021 in a sound financial position, are able to complete a number of important capex projects, and can invest in and promote our Youth section, the part of the club that suffered most from the lack of cricket in 2020.
How will we invest in our club
Donations received will be put to very good use. As a financially secure club we will be able to continue to develop our cricket offering to the community. This will include;
- Growing our All Stars capability, including the provision of coaches to supplement our own volunteers
- Investing in new protective gear and coaching aids for our junior players
- Improved playing facilities e.g. new boundary rope to safely mark the playing area on match days
