Aim

Your help will allow the club to complete two large projects in advance of the 2021 season.

1601400419_vectorsmall_copy.jpgThe who and the what....

The club was founded in 1896 and being a registered charity offers cricket to all irrespective of ability. A family orientated club with a long standing reputation for providing good quality junior coaching. We offer cricket to members from the age of 5 to over 80 now..... See here a short video clip of a typical Saturday morning at the club.

The club is run entirely by volunteers on our management committee through to all the parents over 50 of them now, who coach at the club supporting our ALL STARS (5 to 8) and our junior age groups from U8 through to U19. In 2019 we introduced Girls cricket and also launched a women's softball group this year. The club also runs four adult sides at weekends.

The club has been clubmark accreditated since 2005 recognising us as a safe child friendly club.

The why

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the club had plans for two projects to take place before the 2021 season. This year our income streams, through match fees, bar income, sponsorship, coffee mornings, and hire of our facilities have all been negatively affected. The club also had plans to run a Beer & Wine festival which we had to cancel. It is possible the financial impact will also roll into next year.

We are therefore reaching out to members, their families and friends of the club to help us complete two projects the club had planned to complete prior to the start of the 2021 season.

Our projects

Our outdoor net facility at Grayshott is in need of its first refurbishment. Our biggest asset evidenced after lockdown where so many adult and junior members got their first opportunity to play cricket this year.  See today worn bowler run ups and batting creases, to holes in the nets, and bare thread batting curtains

You can see below how dry our ground at Broxhead Common is. The location suffers from very low water pressure that subsequently takes many hours to water the cricket square and very inefficiently. The club has plans to install a water irrigation system to water the cricket square that will not only allow us to capture and store rainwater but allow nightime watering, all helping reducing the demand on the domestic water supply and the considerable time spent by our volunteers.

Our bit in the community

The club's home is on the village sportsfield and is open to all users. The club also hires out both pavilions for private hire. Being a village club we support our local schools none more so than our local one

"Grayshott Cricket Club has supported the school brilliantly over recent years, helping to develop a love of cricket through delivering engaging activities with different year groups and involving children in local tournaments and festivals. From having just one child playing at the club in 2015, there are now over 20 children who regularly attend sessions through both the winter and summer months."

MICHAEL CLARKE Assistant Headteacher Grayshott Primary School

"Grayshott Cricket Club is at the heart of the local community providing
opportunities for people of all ages who wish to play cricket. A founder
member of Sport Haslemere the club has a thriving junior section and
contributes to the work of sport in general in the area, winning a number of
local prestigious awards over the years."

Chris Grimes Chairman Sport Haslemere

All of this so everyone can enjoy the great game of cricket and don't forget the infamous Grayshott tea....
