Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
To hire The Woodville in Gravesend for young people to have their own show. To perform on stage, create the event & learn from professionals
Over the last two years, our amazing community has helped us raise £11k for core youth work since youth funding was withdrawn across the county. We are incredibly thankful for the ongoing support we have experienced, meaning we can help even more young people through our work.
Now, we are launching this dedicated campaign to put young people on the stage at The Woodville in Gravesend, Kent in April 2027.
This is an unforgettable experience for every young person who takes part.
What the young people will do...
We want to take over The Woodville theatre and allow young people to perform on stage, host the event, make the props, photograph the show, be involved in the lighting and pretty much every aspect of this celebration of young people and their skills.
Imagine stepping on stage in front of an audience of 500+ people to perform with your friends around you, the crowd cheering you on an applauding you.
With incredible stage lighting and sound this is a time for young people to shine.
Having their very own show gives young people an incentive to get creative, to practice a skill and to increase their wellbeing along the way; making new friends, building confidence and having FUN!
We'll work with every school in the borough
We are working with every secondary school in the borough and their students to give them a chance to perform to a live audience. Or to work on the production of the event.
All young people are invited to get involved, it's not about being the best of the best, it's about getting involved and giving it a go!
FREE creative workshops for young people
That's not all - we'll give free weekly workshops to young people in the lead-up to the show, so they can work with singing tutors, dance coaches, artists and creative professionals, such as west end performers who guide and inspire.
They can spend months in advance at our youth space, meeting weekly to practice, plan, rehearse and prepare for the big day, working with creative professionals and youth workers.
Wellbeing and youth work support
Our work with young people is rooted in supporting their wellbeing; emotional and mental health is core to this.
Our work is preventative, meaning we give young people a positive environment, a chance to make friends and have fun while doing new things that support their confidence.
This can make a big difference to all young people, and we see the changes it has made to those young people who are seeking support.
We work with young from all walks of life including children and young people who are carers to parents and siblings, those who experience bullying and loneliness, are neurodivergent or have experienced hardships that have changed their worlds.
Our qualified youth workers guide, listen and support young people, alongside the incredible skills our team of creative professionals offer.
All culminating in a showcase of of performances on the big stage at The Woodville to hundreds of people in the audience.
How your donation will help
Every penny donated will go directly to making this happen:
The hire fee for the venue
The cost of props
The cost of show production - lighting etc.
Any extra money raised over our target will help us fund the fees for working with professional creatives to teach the young people, costumes for young performers, and documenting the workshops and event so young people have photos and video to keep and use.
It's an unforgettable experience for every young person who takes part.
