We want to raise funds to repair and redevelop Grace's Playground in Ilmington so it can continue to be a wonderful place to play.

by Ilmington Parish Council in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, United Kingdom

Ilmington Playing Fields were gifted to the village in 1949 and include a children’s play area. It has a large variety of play equipment which has proved very popular with children and their parents/guardians from both within and beyond the parish.

However, a number of items of equipment date from the original installation and have been condemned. Timber-in-ground equipment bought more recently is already starting to fail. Three items of equipment have been decommissioned for safety reasons.

Ilmington Parish Council is responsible for this equipment and has budgeted for regular inspections and maintenance. However, as a small parish, we have insufficient capital for refurbishment on the scale required and are looking for YOUR support.

The playground is much larger than would be expected for a village the size of Ilmington and its maintenance puts a lot of pressure on the budget of a small parish. Visitors from nearby towns and villages also enjoy the playground and we would like to invite everyone to contribute towards its maintenance and renewal.

Funds raised will be used to purchase replacement of items of equipment that have failed, starting with the basket swing and toddler multi-play unit. It's a race against the clock to raise funds before we have to take more equipment out of service.

The children in our community deserve to have a wonderful place to play. We are calling all parents, grandparents and visitors to please help us save this playground!
