Aim

To make spa, beauty and massage treatments accessible to everyone.

I currently have a hairdressers and beauty salon.  I took over the ground floor of the building in April of 2017.

The Vision:

With all the stresses and strains of everyday life, it would be nice to know that there is somewhere you can go locally, for a while, to escape, relax and unwind.  We do have such places but they are expensive and they tend to be out in the middle of nowhere and attract the more affluent clientele and where "run of the mill" people feel quite intimidated and out of place when visiting.  I myself have been to such places and have paid a lot of money for massage which has ended up being extremely disappointing and has left me feeling "cheated"!

I decided some time ago that I would always keep all our prices as low as I could to ensure they are accessible to everyone rather than an exclusive few.  We have a lot of massage clients who suffer from various ailments such as fybromyalgia and muscluar tension etc.  This can be extremely uncomfotable and if a massage helps relieve their pain and discomfort even for just a few hours, it is worth it and for me personally, it makes me feel extremely happy that I have been able to provide some releif to my client and gives me a sense of worth and immense satisfaction.

Now I have my own salon, I would like to expand on that and do the same with all holistic therapies, beauty treatments and hair treatments.

I would like to be able to offer the use of a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and possibly a floatation tank.

Our clients would receive treatments for mind and body such as reflexology, massage, hopi ear cadling, indian head massage, aromatherapy, hot stone massage and warm bamboo massage, deluxe beauty treatments and body wraps and hair styling, colouring etc as follows:-

 The Spa Experience

All customers would receive a bathrobe and slippers to change into before entering the calm and tranquil environment we have created.  There will be a "communal" area where customers may help themselves to herbal teas or soft drinks, read the paper and generally relax prior to going into the treatment area for a massage, spa treatment or to use the jacuzzi or steam room.

The Beauty Experience

All customers will be received and taken through to the relevant treatment area where they will receive their chosen treatments.  They will, before leaving, be offered refreshment in the "communal area" where, they may leave feedback regarding their experience at Grace Beauty Ltd.

The Holistic Experience

All customers will be received and taken through to the relevant treatment area where they will receive their chosen treatments.  They will, before leaving, be offered refreshment in the "communal area" where, they may leave feedback regarding their experience at Grace Beauty Ltd.

The Salon Experience

Again, all customers whether they have pre-booked or simply walked in will be received by a staff member at reception.  Their requirements will be discussed and they will then be taken through to the hair salon .  They will be offered refreshments whilst receiving their treatment and provided with a feedback form on completion of their treatment.

The area demographic is that there are three social housing estates surrounding the salon.  The population of Parr is 12,199, 51% of whom are female and 49% are male,  The average age is 36, median age is slightly lower at 35.  95.7% of people living in Parr were born in England.  50% of the houses are terraced, 35% are flats, 12.5% are semi-detached houses and there are a small amount of detached properties.  1/3 of the properties are privately rented, 1/3 are social housing and 1/3 are owned outright.   The top occupations are elementary 20.7%, elementary admin and service 17.3%, process, plant and machine operatives 14.6% and caring and leisure & other service 13.6%, skilled trades 12.7%, sals and customer service 11.6%, Caring personal services 11.2%, sales 10.3%, caring personal services 8.6 and sales assistants and retail cashiers 8.5%.

Currently, only one side of the shop is in use.  The other side of the salon has never been used and is basically a concrete floor and walls.  There is a stand up sunbed on this side of the salon but it is currently not in use.

We now have the opportunity of renting the two floors above the salon and would love to be able to expand the business and offer spa treatments which would allow our vision to become a reality.   This would mean that we would also have the outside area too which means that I could utilise that space to install a sauna/steam room, jaccussi's and possibly a floatation tank.  I am a great beleiver that massage and spa treatments should be accessible to everyone's pocket and from all walks of life.   There are so many people in this world who suffer on a daily basis from fybromyalgia and various other ailments and who would benefit from holistic therapies etc.  I already have some customers who suffer with such ailments and they come to us because I ensure all our prices are affordable.

Since opening in April, I now employ 3 hairdressers and a holistic therapist and of course myself.  I am currently trying to take more of a managing role maintaining the administrative side of things and ensuring business is coming through the door on a daily basis.

Should we reach our goal, it will allow us to renovate the building in the way we envisage therefore creating job opportunities in the area.  We are constantly listening to our customers and the people who live locally and what they would like.  We then implement as much as we can but always ensuring that our treatments remain affordable for the area.

The salon is quickly becoming a hub within the community and with the correct direction and guidance will thrive.  There isn't another hairdressers/beauty salon or spa anywhere within the locality and having spoken to the locals and our customers, they are constantly telling us that it is exactly what is needed in the area and I am absolutely certain it would be very popular.
