To raise funds to cover the costs of the venue hire and associated expenses for a fringe event at the Labour Party Conference in September.
The Gower Initiative for Modern Money Studies was launched very successfully last year. It has the support of leading MMT economists and forms part of a growing global network. It aims to shine a light on how money works in a modern economy and challenges the household budget myths that form the basis of current public understanding.
GIMMS is a non-profit organisation which relies exclusively on the donations of its friends and supporters for funding. The GIMMS team give their time voluntarily and without pay but we still need to cover the costs of events, travel, printing and other expenses associated with running the organisation.
The funds raised on this occasion will go towards covering the costs of the planned fringe event at the Labour Party Conference in September (more news on that to come). The economist Professor Bill Mitchell (co-author of the recently published Macroeconomics textbook) will be our keynote speaker and we are delighted to announce that that he will be joined by Chris Williamson MP.
We have been so grateful to the grass roots activists who have supported our previous fund raising efforts Those donations however small have all added up to make our venture possible. We hope that we can count on you again to help us achieve our aims.
Note: The GIMMS team would like to make it clear that Professor Mitchell is receiving no payment for his time which he offers freely and is covering his own travel expenses.
