Deliverance Theatre is a grassroots theatre company, aiming to tell working class stories by working class people. This play Goodbye Postie is an incredibly relatable play, whether you are from an urban area or a rural one.
Goodbye Postie tells the story of lifelong friends, Postie and Sparkie navigating their lives in Dumfries, Scotland in 2005. Sick of the small-town monotony, Postie decides to fly the nest, leaving Sparkie behind. Together they explore why some leave and some stay, risking their friendship along the way.
This play first showed at a very humble venue at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023. It was met with great acclaim from the audience and now we hope to show this with greater capacity, finesse and potential.
Being such a relatable story told by relatable artists, we feel this is important and hits home for those in our audience and has greater potential beyond a one-off showing at the Fringe.
