 New stretch target

With additional funding we can make our project reach our goals of inclusion much quicker. It will allow us to offer training and outreach and increase our membership.

What is this all about?

Good to Grow is a fledgling horticultural co-operative being established in Northern Ireland. We want to change the relationship that local people have with their food chain; to promote pollinator friendly, sustainable and ethical gardening and provide local employment opportunities.

How can you help?

We need your help to share our crowdfunding page and fund our start-up programme: our website and social media platforms, and for developing our product and service range to meet the needs of local people, businesses (and pollinators!). If you believe in the ethics of co-operation and understand the importance of sustainability and the environment please share our page and support our crowdfunding effort.

What are we trying to achieve?

Bees are a real buzzword - when they cease so could we. . .   Our story is a local one but one which everyone will understand. Gardens are getting smaller (or non-existent).  People are becoming more detached from the food chain and the natural environment. Mental and physical health issues are rife. The environment is at a tipping point. This is why we are pulling together to create Good to Grow Co-operative.  We want to bridge the gap, build knowledge, creativity and provide sustainable horticultural practices at grass roots. We will provide advice, workshops, education, networking and events for local people and businesses to learn about their own gardens and growing, local food, the environment and sustainability.

Who are we?

We are a hive of activity with a breadth of local experience and knowledge: - growers, allotment owners, qualified horticulturalists, community gardeners, locally-grown produce outlets, designers, botanists, beekeepers, seed collectors…  We have the right mix of skills, experience and passion to provide outreach, training, workshops, networking and education on sustainable growing and gardening.

What is our story?

We met at horticultural college and have formed a bond based on common values of ethical sustainable gardening, supporting local growers and reaching out to educate and develop communities. We have come from a wide range of backgrounds before embarking on our second careers: community-based and social care, sustainable energy, PR and marketing, banking, management and farming. This mix of skills plus our passion for sustainable horticulture and local communities makes us completely unique; and well placed to deliver a successful and sustainable cooperative business model. Our members will have equal rights and equal votes in the future of the cooperative.
