Aim

Golden Hour Response's Rallypoint software automates and improves current processes to respond to missing people in order to save lives.

Ed and Simon have over 30 years of experience between us in Search and Rescue and we feel compelled to help people in their darkest hours. Did you know that, very conservatively,  somebody is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, with over 320,000 people reported missing each year? We founded Golden Hour Response to do something positive to help these people.

When people go missing, the most valuable time is the first hours (referred to in emergency response language as the ‘Golden Hour’). It is crucial to act quickly, to generate useful activity for families and volunteer searchers that does not put them at risk, and to gather information to risk-assesses and initiate specialist responders if needed.

At present, the activity within this golden hour follows set checklists and risk assessments which are conducted manually. The Police will deploy, already stretched, assets to investigate and manually collect the data required to form a risk assessment. This can take hours! Families can access advice, but this is website based and requires sifting and reading that is unlikely to be the focus for families who are panicking about their missing loved ones.

We have seen this process many times, and have seen it fail. It is simply not quick and responsive enough and is very reliant on human input and interpretation. Families put themselves at risk by searching themselves. High-risk cases are not escalated quickly enough to generate an appropriate, specialist search. Lives have been lost, as a result, that could have been saved.

We have designed and built software, Rallypoint, that can significantly improve this problem by taking the defined flowcharts, processes, risk assessments and info for families and automating them in an app. We hope to use this first app to generate funds to develop our software into a ‘golden hour’ emergency and disaster suite of software with global utility.

We can save hours of police time, help families to take positive action to find their loved-ones without putting themselves at risk, generate more robust risk assessments quickly, pass on vital information to follow-on specialist searchers quickly and efficiently, and save lives.

We have been unable to fully launch our business due to lack of funding. We have a very streamlined operation with very few overheads, but lack capital for market research, marketing, visiting the trade shows where we can reach our potential customers, and developing our idea to a point where we can generate sales. We would use funding to give us the boost to turn our idea into a functioning platform. There is huge first-mover advantage to be gained if we can get this boost, and scope to make a massive difference to missing people search in the UK and, over time, globally.
