COVID 19 Bereaved Families For Justice UK need to secure funding to guarantee that we remain effective during the inquiry and beyond.
That helplessness continued as I saw the virus continue to sweep through the population, exponentially driving up the death toll. I wanted to do something but I didn't know how. Why would anyone listen to a nobody from the midlands?
By chance, I met Jo Goodman, also grieving the loss of her own father Stuart, and we started a campaign that would change our lives and become one of the major driving forces for bringing about change.
In the last five years we have had some major successes, forcing government u-turns, creating dignified memorials and most significantly bringing about the start of the UK Covid Inquiry.
Our job however isn't over and after all this time or resources are running out.
The campaign is mostly volunteer run, but it has a small staff team that are on the payroll. We also have insurance, professional memberships, tools and utilities to ensure we keep running and these all have a cost. Keeping the funds coming in from supporters is more important than ever in a landscape where donations from charitable grants are becoming more and more hard to come by.
To help keep us working and remaining effective for the duration of the inquiry and for the years of campaigning ahead to have the recommendations adopted, I am planning to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday, the 26th of July. I will hike the route across three mountains in under 12 hours in tribute to the dedicated campaigners that have fought uphill for five years and expect to do the same for several more.
Please consider sponsoring me for the walk and supporting our mission to Learn Lessons and Save Lives.
