£186,000 is our optimum target. This will fund the installation of solar panels on Fiddlers Lane Primary School in Irlam. We don't want them to miss out!
Please read the Share Offer for more details.
GMCR was founded by a group of passionate volunteers with the vision of bringing the benefits of community-owned renewable energy to Greater Manchester.
GMCR is planning to install solar panels at Irlam Primary School, Primrose Hill Primary School in Salford, and The Fuse in Partington and help Moss Community Energy to install solar panels at Fiddlers Lane Primary School in Irlam.
These sites will receive electricity from the panels at a 25% discount compared to their existing supplier. Each site will also receive educational support to help pupils and members of the community learn about energy and climate change.
A proportion of the Society's surpluses will be made available for community projects relating to climate change, energy efficiency and environmental education via our Community Fund.
Benefits
We estimate that this will generate:
110,000 kWh of clean, green electricity in the first year saving approximately 50 tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent
energy bill savings for the sites and educational support to help children learn about where energy comes from and its impact on the environment
a Community Fund of £61,000 over the life of the project
