GLocal: Restoring Green Communities

Aim: GLocal promotes healthy, thriving communities by preventing and protecting against the impacts of climate change, focusing on local youth.

Climate change is a reality that affects us all. The rising costs of living has made this reality even tougher for disadvantaged groups such as those accessing our Community Centre in SE16 London. At RJ4All, we believe that we can build a better world by disseminating power in a more equal way locally and internationally. 

We set up GLocal to act locally but heard internationally on matters that will prevent climate change, while improving our environment. To this end, we need funding to:

• Empower our local communities to take action and to learn how they can be more green. This will include workshops on green energy, climate action and the provision of a warm space through which they can save energy costs.
• Teach our local youth about the environment and how to take care of it through a forest school that will be run during our free youth clubs on school holidays and half terms. We will also empower our local youth to become through our Resilience model giving them the tools to build resilience and green awareness through sports, workshops, and cultural activities.
• Improve our local green space through the creation of a garden at our Community Centre form which local residents can benefit through community projects bringing different generations together.
• Make CO2 savings by collecting food that would be otherwise wasted and distribute it through our food bank for free to communities in need and improving our facility to lower our energy consumption.
