 New stretch target

We will use additional donations to do all we can to ensure that Glen Reynolds is the next MP for West Aberdeenshire & Kincardine.

Dr Glen Reynolds lives in Alford and is an experienced councillor, lawyer and journalist, having worked in the UK and internationally in high profile positions with third sector organisations, not least in areas of conflict and post conflict cultures.

Such a high profile and broad life experience is something he brings to his parliamentary ambition and Glen believes in the 'person behind the politics' as something that has proven on the doors and in conversations, to appeal to the electorate in our current landscape.

Glen has a doctorate in theology and when moving to Scotland in 2007, taught at Aberdeen University whilst a Director of Grampian Housing and working in the Shire Housing Service part time for ten years. A lifelong believer in Scottish independence, he had been an elected councillor in England prior to his move north, and was elected as an SNP councillor in 2017, topping the poll upon re-election in 2022. He is the opposition spokesperson on the Communities policy committee and has been a member of the Integration Joint Board encompassing health issues across the Shire.

A message from Glen Reynolds

July 4th is our independence day.

The increasingly aggressive stance of Westminster towards limiting democracy and leaving a trail of democratic deficit throughout Scotland is a testament to a Westminster rule that seeks to ignore, outvote and overrule the wishes of the Scottish people at every opportunity.

Too many feel disenfranchised by a system of government at Westminster that knows, cares and understands little of the values and way of life in the North East. It lacks empathy and the political or constitutional will to change the status quo that typically adversely impacts on our people and their families and communities.

July 4th is when we change that and free ourselves from the shackles of the Tories in Scotland, and a failed MP in Andrew Bowie who is self focused on nuclear ambitions far removed from the needs and aspirations of West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine (WAK).

I relish the possibility of working with SNP colleagues in the North-East in standing up for what matters in WAK, for long term jobs and investment in oil and gas, recognising the invaluable role that the energy sector will play in achieving carbon emission targets and a just transition to a thriving renewable sector.

At Westminster I will resist cuts to public services, oppose NHS privatisation, attacks on workers’ rights and the disgraceful treatment of WASPI women. And whatever Andrew Bowie thinks, we are right to stand firm against nuclear power in Scotland; it will not help people in and out of a cost of living crisis, reduce energy bills, and is an ambition which lacks economic viability and sustainability.

Whether it’s energy bills, the higher cost of food, or soaring rent and mortgage rates, Scotland is being dragged down by Westminster politics, and kept out of Europe against our wishes. With your support, we can return a strong team of SNP MPs to Westminster to defend Scotland and uphold our right to become an independent country once again.

Best wishes,

Glen Reynolds
