Aim

Empowering girls in Essex with life skills and confidence. £1,500 funds training, insurance, DBS checks, launch & equipment. July 2026

Girls Life Club Project empowers girls aged 11-16 from disadvantaged backgrounds in Essex with practical life skills and confidence-building workshops.

We teach personal development through practical skills cooking, sewing, design, and goal-setting - giving girls the tools to believe: "I can do hard things."

This summer, we're launching our first 5-week programme for 10 girls. Your donation makes it possible.

The GLC team have spent years working with young people and have seen the consequences when girls lack basic life skills and the mindset they need to make it.

Girls who don't have the confidence or capability to manage everyday life.

This isn't about academic failure - these are bright, capable girls. It's about a gap in our community's support system.

And it disproportionately affects girls from disadvantaged backgrounds - the ones who need support most.

Life happens. And when it does, we want our community's girls to be ready.

This is about prevention, not rescue.

we don't want to wait until a young woman is struggling later in life because no one taught her to budget, cook or even deal with relationships.

We don't want girls to feel helpless when faced with everyday challenges because they've never had the opportunity to learn practical skills.

We want girls to have the awareness, solutions, and tools they need BEFORE life throws challenges at them.

This is about empowering girls to take care of themselves and contribute confidently to their community - not waiting for someone else to solve their problems.

Girls Life Club Project bridges the gap that exists between school and home. We teach the personal development and practical life skills everyone assumes someone else is handling.

Because our community deserve better.

THE SOLUTION

Girls Life Club Project is a Community Interest Company serving girls aged 11-16 in Essex.

We deliver hands-on life skills programmes that build confidence, capability, and independence.

Our first 5-week summer programme launches July 2026.

Hands-on sessions. Skills that support independence, wellbeing, and community contribution.

The practical sessions are the avenue. What they learn is much deeper: personal development, positive habits, confidence, and the belief that they can handle what life brings.

Crucially: girls from disadvantaged backgrounds (Pupil Premium eligible) access FREE places. Because the girls in our community who need this most shouldn't be priced out.

Essex has areas of significant deprivation. Many families are struggling and personal development and life skills for success fall through the cracks..

Meanwhile, schools are stretched thin covering the curriculum.

The result? Girls entering adulthood unprepared for:

- Managing a budget and cooking on one

- Basic household maintenance and repair

- Self-care and wellbeing

- Planning and organisation

- Confidence in their own capabilities

This creates a cycle of dependence and struggle that affects families and our whole community.

Girls Life Club Project breaks that cycle.

We're not replacing schools or parents. We're filling a genuine gap in community support - providing what both want for girls but neither has capacity to deliver.

£1,500 covers essential startup costs to serve our community safely and professionally:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training - Legally required before working with young people. Two days of comprehensive professional training to ensure girls' safety.

Public liability insurance (1 year) - Essential protection before delivering any community sessions.

Enhanced DBS checks - Criminal record checks for me, my co-director, and 2 volunteers. Standard safeguarding practice.

Programme Launch and equipment

- Cooking equipment & ingredients  - for nutritious meal preparation

- Sewing supplies & fabric - girls keep what they create

- Personal care supplies  - for confidence-building sessions

- Art & planning materials - for goal-setting and development

- Storage containers - keeping equipment safe for future cohorts

- Contingency - for unexpected costs in new community programmes.

Every penny goes directly to setup costs. No salaries. No office rent. Just essentials to launch safely and serve our community well.

THE IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

This isn't just about our summer programme.

It's about a girl who knows how to cook nutritious food for her family.

It's about a young girl who can manage her money and plan ahead.

It's about a teenager who believes she's capable instead of helpless.

When girls have practical skills and confidence, everyone benefits:

- Families - girls contribute at home, reduce household stress

- Schools - confident students perform better academically

- Community - young people become contributors, not just consumers

- Future - skills and habits pass to the next generation

£1,500 serves 10 girls this summer. But equipment lasts for years, serving future cohorts. Skills learned are used for life. Confidence built creates ripple effects in families and friendships.

You're investing in Essex's young people and our community's future.
