Aim

Thank you so much for helping to bring our original play 'Glass House' to Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Thank you so much for all of your help bringing 'Glass House' to the Edinburgh Festival!

From the entire cast, crew and wider production team - a huge thank you is in order. With your support, we were able to raise enough money to cover the entire Fringe Registration cost and pay for the majority of our performance insurance! These were crucial costs for our run, and so your support meant an awful lot for all of us.

Not only did our run receive excellent reviews (attached below!), but we were able to raise money for a charity very much aligned with the ethos of Glass House as a play; Four Square is an Edinburgh-based charity which supports those who are or are at risk of becoming homeless. They provide support, advice, accommodation and learning and training opportunities - with over 80 staff striving to support their belief that everyone deserves a beautiful home. Through generous on-the-door donations and money generated by the show, we were able to donate £100 to Four Square.

This production provided a group of young people with invaluable real-world experience, and we are incredibly grateful for your crucial support in this process. Once again, thank you from the whole team!

On or off? It's a simple enough question.

'Glass House' explores humanity's grimy underbelly with unwavering intimacy and a darkly humorous streak. A boundary-pushing mockumentary-theatre piece, the play is woven together with pre-recorded interviews with its 'real-life' characters as they share their renditions of what happened on the historic night of February 14th , 2011. The play uncovers how, on a night of unrelenting rain and flooding in the British countryside, a standoff between a stubborn bus driver and a houseless man who can't afford a ticket slides into a mire of tension and social conflict which brings the passengers to a repugnant dilemma. 'Glass House', like a 'bottle-episode' or a Greek tragedy, plays out in real time and in one setting; although you might want to at times, it is an hour of theatre you will not be able to look away from.

A note from our Writer/Director

Having been lucky enough to see a decent amount of theatre growing up, I quickly came to the realisation that the key element which decided how much I loved a play was one, simple thing: the length of the conversation that I would have afterwards. In approaching writing and directing, therefore, the question is often- "How do we inspire a conversation which lasts longer than the play?". 'Glass House' is a vibrant, espresso-shot response to this question; it is not here to dictate anything to an audience, nor to scold or sermonize, but to entertain, to question every nook and cranny of our conscience and implore you to answer "What would you do?" and "Why?" at every twist of its plot. I feel incredibly fortunate to be staging this show at the Fringe with a truly powerhouse cast and a wonderful production team.

I hope you enjoy!

Charlie
