Glaaze. - E-commerce With a Difference

Aim

Glaaze. is an e-commerce site selling affordable accessories and homewares - focusing on LGBTQ+, Sustainability and Feminism awareness.

THE IDEA

Over one year ago, I came up with the idea of Glaaze. Not just a website where you can buy cute, affordable accessories - it’ll be a community.

We’ll sell a range of items from jewellery to phone cases to beauty tools, but the majority of our items will be categorised into three main themes - LGBTQ+, sustainability and feminism. Within each of these themes, there will be particular items which when purchased a percentage of the profits will go to a chosen charity.

In addition to this, I plan to host a blog which will highlight significant issues within these categories; featuring guest writers, interviews and some fun stuff on the side, making sure there’s something for everyone.

THE AIM

With the help of your pledge, we hope to not only raise awareness for these important areas, but to contribute towards progression and help those in need. We understand that it’s unrealistic to want to change the whole world, but to open the minds of a few people is enough for us. If I had to put our vision into two words, they would be power and progression – so if you want to join us on this journey, your support will be greatly appreciated.

WHY LGBTQ+, SUSTAINABILITY + FEMINISM? 

These subjects are very close to my heart. As a gen z, bisexual female I’m fully aware of the hurt and suffering related to these categories. Yes, we have pride but hate crimes towards LGBT people are still a daily occurrence. Yes, we all joke about using paper straws, but environmental changes need to be taken more seriously. And yes, women can work, vote, drive etc. but there are still a lot of double standards and unfair misogyny going on. If you don’t believe me, here are a few statistics to think over: 

• 4 in 5 of LGBT people who have experienced a hate crime or incident, didn’t report it to the police out of fear that it wouldn’t be taken seriously. 
• There are only 6 countries that offer women the same legal working rights as men; Belgium, Denmark, France, Latvia, Luxembourg & Sweden.
• 8.9 million people are killed by air pollution each year; causing asthma, lung cancer and heart problems, it’s been deemed the world’s worst environmental health risk.
