Our first EP 'I Killed The Bees' is very nearly ready. Help us take it from the studio and into your ears!
First of all, no bees were harmed in the making of this! We've been working really hard on this record for the past year, piecing together studio time and learning how to self-produce. It hasn't been easy but we're all the more proud of it because of that and we can't wait for you to hear it. On it are 4 juicy songs - the title track is about the environmental issues we are facing today, the second 'Beast' is about living with a mental health problem, then there's a cover that you won't be expecting and the final is about a head injury that almost stopped the project in its tracks. You're going to love it. (The EP, not the head injury!)
Last year, TYGERMYLK recorded and released their debut single 'What God Would Keep Us Apart' independently and were lucky enough to gain substantial coverage and launch the song at Brighton Pride. This was all made possible with the PRS Foundation Linsey De Paul Prize for female songwriters and a grant from The British and Irish Modern Music Institute. TYGERMYLK was formed when Hayley Harland and Aurora Bennett met on the first day of uni. Harland had been writing and releasing music since she was 14 and this collaboration marked the next stage of her musical evolution. They competed in the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition battle of the bands this year, securing a slot at the festival as well as playing The Great Escape and Isle of Wight Festival this summer.

The music industry has changed a lot in the past few years and this means bands have to find different ways of generating income. It's hard out there, especially if you are a woman and that's why we are taking matters into our own hands rather than waiting around for a label to offer us a deal. To get us started, we need to be able to pay for:
Hayley has previous experience as a female entrepreneur and ran several successful businesses in the past. One of them was a website design company which is handy, because after the campaign, we will open an online store so you won't have to wait until our gigs to get your hands on new merch. There will be additional tshirts, bags & posters available, as well as our music. However, it's worth noting that the rewards you see here are unique to this campaign and we do need you to invest in these first to get our shop off the ground.
The second way we can generate income is through ticket sales. Without wanting to ruin the surprise, we are planning a tour in November. We have an excellent marketing team waiting to get started on promoting our record so that more people will hear about us before we visit their city. In the long term, we plan to be touring consistently and would like to also build our audience by doing support tours with bigger bands. We have management, bands and booking agents all interested but they need to see us live first so we need to present them with that opportunity.
This record is so special to us, we really want it to have the best chance of success. Hayley spends most of her time working as a busker on the Southbank and London Underground, Aurora is a student and the band do not have the financial backing of a major label. We are releasing this entirely independently, without your support, we simply wouldn't be able to get the EP out there. We're so close now, take a look at all our rewards and please give what you can!
