LilyAnne's Wellbeing is a charity that is dedicated to helping vulnerable and excluded individuals who face ill Mental health, Loneliness & Homelessness.
Our mission is to engage, empower, and support these individuals, while also protecting them from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
We strive to reduce life-limiting choices and Behaviors, and to help those in need live happier, healthier lives.
As the autumn weather heads in the nights are getting darker, colder and much wetter.
Sadly not everyone living on the streets meets the threshold to be housed because it is based on priorities and often temporary accommodation is left empty while people are on the streets because the do not meet the requirements to be housed and supported.
Often people who do not engage with services because of their chaotic lifestyles are not supported with temporary accommodation even when legislation comes into play which requires everyone to be brought in out of the cold.
Those living in the streets have to face the windy elements without the luxury of a roof to keep them out of the wind which can kill anyone's morale.
Many people who support the homeless do not believe in giving out tents or sleeping bags as we are accepting we have a homeless problem and they believe they enjoy the lifestyle of being homeless and it promotes homelessness,
But we believe everyone regardless of the circumstances should be housed and should not be within a tent, but we believe everyone deserves a shelter, out of the wind, rain and rain and should have the opportunity to stay warm when they are denied housing.
As the cost of living crisis set's in LilyAnne's Wellbeing has seen a huge surge in the demand for people who are living on the streets and need support.
The main reasons for the surge in homelessness is not because of drug and alcohol abuse, it is everyday working people who are suffering as a result of the cost of living crisis.
People who have been unable to keep on track of bills and the cost of keeping a roof over their heads.
People who hold down full-time jobs and are simply struggling and have it rock bottom and need a little lift back up.
Locally there is a huge problem with move-on properties and other places just not suitable for anyone to live.
Within Hartlepool we are seeing a huge surge in people who are living on the streets because the cost of running their own home has become to much, while we support them back into accommodation we provide people with the basics to get them through until we are able to help them get a set of keys in their hands.
When someone comes into LilyAnne's Well-being depending on the weather we offer the following
- A sleeping bag
- Clean underwear
- Clean socks
- Clothing
- A hygiene pack
- Hot Drinks and Food
- A Tent (While people are within Tents we would always work to get them accommodation)
This enables us to build a relationship with the homeless community and support them. We support them in accessing housing and engaging within local support, eventually we aim to see them housed and reduce the risks of homelessness and create training opportunities to eventually support those experiencing into employment.
We train basis skills to keep a house such as cooking and cleaning, budgeting and planning to help reduce the risk of those people becoming homeless again while being able to tackle the mental health and wellbeing side that could have resulted in them being on the streets within the first place.
Enabling people to build their own lives independently without the need to depend on others.
This is why we have launched our Give A Tent For Christmas Campaign to help keep our homeless community as warm as we can this winter while we help find accommodation.
But once they are housed our support doesn't stop as we start to tackle the feelings of loneliness and mental health.
