Inspired by a chance visit to Caithness, who recently ran a competition to design a flag for their community, Girvan Arts Festival, supported by a broad range of local organisations, is proud to announce that a similar competition is about to be launched in Girvan.
A representative of the Lyon Court, the body who oversee the registration of flags in Scotland, will be visiting our schools to introduce the pupils to the art of flag-making.
When a winner has been chosen, a flag will be produced and there will be an unfurling ceremony at some point over the summer.
The flag design will be a free, public symbol for all to use at will. We hope that the flags will be available for purchase by time the flag is unfurled.
Here are the important dates -
6th - 31st March Competition Entry dates
7th March - Lyon Court representative school visits
31st March - 20th April Judging
21st April - 5th May - Voting
Unfurling Ceremony - TBA
