Helen Humphries, the founder and chair of the Girvan Arts Festival, first held in 2022, had a vision of bringing an arts festival, in its broadest sense, to Girvan.
The aim she expressed was to promote accessible arts by holding a weekend of creative events each year. She believed that art encompasses everything creative from painting and drawing to woodwork, cooking and photography: not just Art with a capital 'A'. It’s about access for the local community to the arts in their broadest sense through presentations and workshops.
She hoped that the festival would encourage participation in the arts in Girvan and its surrounding areas, increase visitor numbers to the town, and promote creativity and personal well being for all those who attended.
We have dropped the ticket price for 2023 to £5 to make the festival as inclusive as possible to everyone in the community but, if you feel that the events are worth more than that to you, and you can afford it, it would be of enormous help in keeping the festival going if you could make a donation to reflect your appreciation of what we are trying to do.
Thank you.
