Aim: Our project is to help young girls and female teenagers acquire GRIT for life, through team sport- Girls Reaching Individual Targets.
St Brenda's is a camogie club in a rural area in Co Armagh. We offer physical activity as well as general wellbeing supports for young girls from age5, to adult females (no upper age). Our club places great emphasis on the holistic approach to bringing females into and keeping females in sport. We aim to enhance self confidence and esteem, alongside increased sense of participation and community, for females. We are strong advocates for participation for girls in sport, and for girls to feel valued and admired, for their sporting abilities.
Our project will
1. train new coaches (mums & dads coaching daughters)
2. deliver 1st Aid training to coaches and players
3. deliver positive mental health training for players
4. run a summer / autumn camp for 4-11 year olds
5. provide new equipment for creative activity sessions
6. provide "on loan" essential equipment for new beginners who wish to "give it a go" before commitment to purchasing hurls and helmets which are costly
We are crowdfunding to help us deliver on our Girls with GRIT Project- offering sports development opportunities for our young and teenage members while helping parents connect with their children as coaches. Our project will also offering valuable and impactful personal-confidence and self-esteem coaching for girls and young women. Our project will help create equal opportunities for girls and young women so that they feel equally able to fully take part in sport as do boys and young men.
Whilst St Brenda's is first and foremost a sports club- we are also a "home from home" for our members, we are a safe place where girls and young women can take part in healthy activity where their physical and emotional health is enhanced. Our project will have as it's cornerstone the aim to "level the playing field" so girls feel fully supported to play sport and be part of a team- regardless of their sporting abilities. We aim to provide girls and teenagers with GRIT for today and GRIT for tomorrow.
All money raised will go towards our project and with SportNI match funding what we raise, this means that your support will go twice as far in helping us deliver our exciting GRIT project. We would be very grateful if you would consider donating and supporting our aims to get more girls and young women into sport and leading active and healthy lives. Together, we can make a real difference!
Our project target budget is £6700. All funds raised will go towards the following:

Our GRIT Project will have significant COMMUNITY impact but vitally it will also have significant PERSONAL impact for the girls and young females that benefit from it. The community impact will be seen via the increase in participation in sport and the increase in likelihood of girls and young women staying in sport. The community will benefit from the increased sense of belonging and pride in their rural area / rural sports club, that participants will feel. Individuals will benefit from feeling valued and being part of a team, they will be supported to have positive feelings about themselves and their area/team, whilst individuals who might have otherwise struggled to stay in sport, will be helped to remain and grow personally in sport.
Our project aims to support girls and women to have GRIT- so they become the leaders of tomorrow- within and outwith sport!
We would be delighted if you could help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! The more fund we can raise, the more supports and activities we can offer our players and the more help we can give girls and young women to be "girls with grit".
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
