Crowdfunder is making it 100% free for community and charity crowdfunding projects during the coronavirus crisis.

Girls United FA:

During the lockdown, our London Club players have been encouraged to show their creativity by creating the Girls United Voices platform which asks questions which they answer through different means. Theme 2 was; What if your favourite team (any sport or football only) and why?

Lulu from this wanted to create a fundraiser for her favourite team which was Girls United. The staff wanted to supported and encourage this creativity and ownership to a project which is why we have planned our Girls United Goes The Mile project.

From Lulu:

Last year 4 girls from the Mexico Club from Girls United came to England. It was really cool meeting them and despite the language barrier, we became good friends. It was really inspiring hearing and seeing how Girls United is changing lives not sure in Mexico but here (London) as well.

I have started running a lot during the lockdown period and thought it would be a really easy and inclusive way to raise money and give back to a club which is doing so much for the people involved as well as a fun competition to get people up and off the sofa.

The Brief:

We will have two teams: The Players vs The Coaches.
Each team have a captain: Lulu for the players vs Amelia for the Coaches.

Each captain will run or walk a mile every hour across 2 days (4th and 5th) between 8am-8pm to total to 24 miles as a minimum.

Other players, coaches or the public will be welcome to complete a mile or more and send them to the team of their choice.

We will track to see who team has completed the most miles between 8am on the 4th till 8pm on the 5th July.

Funding:

Lulu has decided to aim raise £2,500 which is the running costs of a community programme. This includes equipment, coaching costs for roughly 9 months. It would allow us to work with between 20-30 new players.
