Establish regular, creative and fun-based sessions for girls to improve their health and fitness and develop an interest in boxing

Rathfriland Cross Community Amateur Boxing Club is centrally located in the small rural town of Rathfriland. Our members hail from neighbouring towns such as Hilltown, Mayobridge, Cabra, Ballyward Katesbridge, Annaclone, Kilcoo, Barnmeen Leitrim and Castlewellan. The club has a rich tradition and heritage of serving the local community through the promotion of the sport of boxing. Prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we had over 100 members (from11-18 years old) involved in our club: training; participating in competitions and building lifelong friendships
We will continue to value and uphold the reputation of the club, our members, volunteers, trustees and the wider community from which we derive our support. We take pride in being a cross community organisation providing boxing and general fitness coaching to local young people and children.

Boxing, like most sports is a great way for young people to socialise, meet new people, build friendships and gain vital life skills that you can use outside the ring.
We want girls aged from 11 to 18 to join our club's community. We want to offer new and existing members the best possible advantages for their life ahead and give them the skills to develop a greater sense of themselves. Build self confidence, self esteem and become the person they wish to be. Above all, we want all members to enjoy being fit and healthy and have fun doing so
This programme is tailored specifically to focus on the needs of girls hoping to get into boxing. All sessions in our gym will be exclusively female. Our lead coach Clodagh McComiskey, who was part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games High Performance squad, will provide first class boxing support. And as a qualified personal trainer and boxing coach Clodagh will also be able to deliver a wide range of creative training options, support all female members to develop positive mental health outcomes. And also support the delivery nutritional advice and guidance sessions.
How we’ll spend the money raised

All funds raised through our fundraising will be spent on our club's female programme. They will have access to the best equipment, creative training and fitness sessions and receive dedicated all round support to improve overall wellbeing and resilience.
As a voluntary club, all our income is used to benefit our members. We focus on raising money so our members do not have to be concerned about costs associated with boxing, such as kits, equipment, travelling to competitions and galas etc. This is why we require the support of the wider family and community of Rathfriland and beyond

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge.
Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because your individual action is key to our success!
2. Spread the word.
Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards.
Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us.
If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity, you can use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
Or just start raising money from your family or friends and make a gift to the Club
