Aim

Raising funds to help take 14 Girlguiding Oxfordshire Guides, Rangers & YL's to Eswatini in 2027 for community project & local Guide camp

In July 2027, 4 Girlguiding leaders from Oxfordshire will be taking a group of 14 Guides, Rangers, and Young Leaders will travel for two weeks with SenseEarth, a youth travel company specialising in educational and community-focused experiences in Eswatini. As part of the expedition, the girls will spend a week contributing to a community project at the local school in Mhlumeni, a rural community in the north-east of the country, creating a library. We are also planning a joint camp with Girlguiding Eswatini members, alongside a safari experience to deepen their understanding of the country’s environment and wildlife.

As the first Girlguiding UK trip to Eswatini, this visit represents a unique opportunity to establish meaningful and lasting international connections between our members and the local guiding community. This experience will provide participants with their first international Girlguiding opportunity, supporting the development of resilience, adaptability, and leadership skills, while building confidence and independence. 

By working alongside the local community, they will gain valuable insight into Eswatini’s culture and traditions, while sharing their own perspectives with local girls. Camping together will foster friendships, create lasting memories, and equip participants with inspiration and skills they can bring back to their units.
