At Edinburgh Remakery our charitable mission is to reduce digital poverty and support our local communities to live their best lives - whatever that means for them. Digital Poverty affects over 800,000 people in Scotland and the impact is acutely felt among young people.

Imagine being a teenager today, navigating life without a laptop. Applying for jobs, accessing services, or staying connected with friends can feel impossible. Sure, many teens have phones, but a small screen can’t support essential tasks like filling out applications or exploring creative passions. Sadly, for many teenagers in Edinburgh, this is their reality.

Mission Christmas

Every year, Mission Christmas supports thousands of children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring they receive gifts during the festive season. This year they are predicting that they will support over 22,000 children. However, teens often receive fewer donations compared to younger children, leaving many without meaningful presents.

Aligning our campaign with Mission Christmas lets us focus on these underserved teenagers, providing refurbished laptops that not only act as a valuable gift but also open doors to opportunities. These laptops, refurbished by us here at Edinburgh Remakery, are more than a device—they’re tools for connection, creativity, and personal growth. For young carers, disadvantaged teens, or those who rarely receive presents, this initiative offers a life-changing gift during a season where they might otherwise feel left behind.

By raising £7,500, we’ll provide 30 refurbished laptops plus data to teens who need them most in time for Christmas, giving them a gift with lasting impact.
