Aim

To refurbish the public toilets as they are outdated, unhygienic, and have damp, sewerage issues, water leaks, and faulty equipment

St. Goran Parish Council purchased the toilet building from Cornwall Council many years ago. Even at this time they were tired and outdated. Each year since has taken it's toll, and we receive regular complaints about hygiene and the state of floors, furniture and equipment. It is now time to completely refurbish the toilets and solve fundamental issues like damp, leaks, and replace equipment.

We envisage this will entail substantial work, including:
* Demolishing walls to fix damp penetration
* Digging up the sewer pipes to replace them
* Rewiring to latest standards
* Resizing cubicles to meet today's standards
* Improve Lighting
* Using vandal proof equipment to reduce ongoing repair costs
* Replacing equipment with modern energy/water saving features to reduce running costs and reduce environmental impact
* Adding new features such as a water fountain

Whilst tourist and residents have made contributions towards the toilets, many of these have been swallowed up by repairs and running costs.

Until recently, the parish council have not had the finances in place to kickstart a refurbishment project, but it recently decided to allocate £25,000 of it's reserves towards this project.  Although we are awaiting detailed costings, we anticipate the total cost of rebuilding and refurbishment to be in the region of £120,000 and as such, we are asking for donations.

To reduce the burden on parish residents who ultimately pay for the toilet running costs through their council tax, we intend to charge for toilet usage inline with many other parishes.  This will provide a source of funding to help maintain and run the toilets for years to come.

We do not realistically expect to begin the physical refurbishment for some time depending on how long it takes to raise funds.  However, we will continue work in the meantime:
* Refining the design
* Gaining planning permission
* Engaging with other parishes councils who have experience
* Getting quotations from service providers
* Fund raising and raising awareness

Please help us spread the word so we can all enjoy new toilet facilities.
Thank you!
