Get Up Give Back 2023 - Hike Against Hunger

Aim

Our aim is to raise £127,264 in only 12 weeks! We'll be pushing ourselves physically & mentally, raising funds for food. #HikeAgainstHunger.

This year Get Up Give Back, as part of the Property Entrepreneurs Community and I, will be completing a number of Mental, Physical and Volunteering challenges. 

Our aim is to raise £127,264 in only 12 weeks! (This will bring the combined amount raised in 4 years to a fabulous £500,000! We are so grateful for all your previous support).

Back to today..... 

In 2023 we’re going to Hike Against Hunger.

In the UK last year, unbelievably over 1 in 10 households used Food banks. A third of these people are children. 

2 in 5 households have to choose between heating and eating!

The Property Entrepreneurs community is going to attempt a number of challenges across 12 weeks and 3 areas (Mind, Body and Soul) to raise awareness of and funds to combat this issue.

MIND - A fire walk across hot coals! :-o 

BODY - One (or more) of: 

- Summit Snowdon (13 miles, 3,500 ft elevation)

- The Yorkshire 3 Peaks (12 hours, 23 miles, 5,000ft elevation)

- The National 3 peaks.... in 24 hours (24hours, 24 miles, 10,000ft total elevation).

SOUL - Volunteering to support The Trussell Trust, local Food Banks and community good causes.

This year we are financially supporting two incredible charities - one National and one Local organisation, to make a scratch on the surface of this situation.

Magic Breakfast is a national organisation, running for over 2 decades, that provides support to 1,000 schools and education locations with up to 200,000 breakfasts A DAY in term time. 

Their mission is simple: Child hunger should never be a barrier to education.

The Tri Services Veterans Support Centre is a Stoke based unit run by Veterans, for Veterans. They found that veterans could be fiercely independent and would often go hungry, rather than use regular food banks.

They provide camaraderie, signposting and mental health support for ex-members of our Forces and over 7 years have provided 60,000 meals for veterans. They also "stood to" and distributed 250,000 meals during and since the pandemic to their local community.
