Aim: Thea Barrett has been selected as Parliamentary Candidate for the Herne Bay & Sandwich Constituency standing on behalf of the Green Party
Thea Barrett has lived most of her life in Thanet and has studied politics at Liverpool University, she works in hospitality in the area and has a keen knowledge of the issues affecting our region.
YOUR LOCAL PARTY HAS NO CORPORATE OR MILLIONAIRE DONORS LIKE OTHER PARTIES. In order for Thea to stand as a candidate in the General Election, we need to put down a £500 deposit. We also need at least £525 to send out a mailing to all the constituency, which will include information about Thea as our parliamentary candidate.

Thea’s priorities will include:
Working with our Green Councillors across the constituency to protect our best and most versatile agricultural land from development, to boost food security and maintain the traditional character of our towns & villages;
Protecting our natural environment and, in particular, conserving our few most precious areas of wildlife habitat, including the Minster Marshes and Ash Levels;
Supporting residents struggling with the cost of living, through a range of Green Party measures from mass home insulation to reduce energy bills to Universal Basic Income to simplify benefits and keep people out of poverty;
Holding Southern Water to account for their ongoing pollution of our seas & rivers. The Green Party is the only party with a policy to take the water companies, along with other public services, back into public ownership so their profits don’t get siphoned off to shareholders and can be spent on improving services;
Improving public transport, particularly bus services to our villages and towns, to help people get out & about easily without clogging our roads up with yet more cars.
