The Oxford Revue is taking two shows to the Edinburgh Fringe festival for the first time since the pandemic struck, and we need your help!
Who the heck are the Oxford Revue?
The Oxford Revue is a sketch and standup comedy group made up of students at Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities. We write, produce and perform shows in Oxford and have performed in venues in Cambridge, Durham and London, and most importantly, we perform at the Edinburgh Fringe festival every year for a whole month.
We're a funny bunch, and our shows tend to get really great reviews! Our last show, The People vs. The Oxford Revue, was a hit in Oxford, with critics praising its "absurd, dark" humour (Oxford Blue) and calling it a "masterpiece in laugh-a-minute comedy" (Cherwell).
A number of our alumni have gone on to become pretty big names - ever heard of Michael Palin? Rowan Atkinson? Armando Iannucci? Sally Phillips? Katherine Parkinson?

What the heck are the Oxford Revue doing?
This year, we're taking not one, but two shows to the Edinburgh Fringe festival. They are:
THE PEOPLE VS. THE OXFORD REVUE - a wild and wacky sketch showcase adapted from our hugely successful show of the same name, after a sold-out performance at the Old Fire Station in Oxford this January. Tickets here: https://tickets.gildedballoon.co.uk/event/14:3886/
THE OXFORD REVUE AND OTHER FARMYARD ANIMALS - an hour-long variety show of sketch, standup, musical and character comedy, featuring a rotating lineup every day, consisting of the Revue's most promising members, both old and new. Why the heck are we doing that?
The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world, attracting visitors from all over the world to see names both big and small strut their stuff. Reviewers have dubbed the Revue the "future of British comedy" (Cherwell), and what better opportunity is there to reach a wider audience than at the Edinburgh Fringe?
What the heck are you funding?
Even the smallest contribution goes a long way - our funds will go towards PAM!

- PRODUCTION (costs): sourcing props, costumes and other essential equipment for the show, and transporting them to, from, and around Edinburgh.
- ACCESS: Edinburgh isn't the cheapest place to spend the month of August, and taking a show to the Fringe is fairly spenny. We don't want any member of the Revue to feel that they can't perform with us because of the costs of housing and travel to, from and around the city: instead, we want ensure that the worlds of comedy and the performing arts are accessible.
- MARKETING: To reach a wide enough audience, we're going to have to do a big old marketing push in the run up to the start of the Fringe, as well as throughout the month. We need to draw in crowds for two shows a day throughout August, so we can spread the gift of laughter far and wide! So funds will go towards physical marketing, as well as online ad campaigns.
Many thanks for reading, and we hope you think about supporting our projects!
Piggy love,
The Oxford Revue xx
