The Oxford Gargoyles are in need of your help to take our show to the Edinburgh Fringe this August!

Our Story

We are The Oxford Gargoyles; Oxford University's internationally renowned vocal jazz group. Established in 1998, the group aims to charm you with our syntheses of reworked classics and intricate new arrangements in up to 12-part harmony. A stellar mix of black-tie charm, slick wit and even slicker musicality, we've delighted audiences far and wide, with toe-tapping jazz standards and grooving funk tunes thrown in the mix. Now the Gargoyles want the chance to dazzle you with an unforgettable show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Over the last few years the Gargoyles have grown from strength to strength, performing beyond Oxford, around the UK and abroad, with recent tours to Hong Kong, Macau and the US. This year we super keen to take our group to the Edinburgh Fringe for the 12th consecutive year. However, to do so, we need your help and support. We have worked super hard this year to create a group that will perform strongly in Edinburgh - we truly believe that the opportunity to perform alongside some of the UK's leading a cappella groups for current gargoyles would be an extremely valuable experience. 

To make this possible, we need funding to contribute towards the cost of accommodation, travel, promotion and venue hire for the group. We have worked hard to minimise costs in every area, and have done gigs all year to raise funds and hype! Our next challenge is to get to Edinburgh and sell out our shows. 

To accompany our run at the Fringe, we have recorded a full-length album, featuring the songs from our show (plus more!), with leading a cappella production company The Vocal Company. This year we are sounding tighter and more musical than ever, which is why we want to immortalise our current group on record. The album will shortly be available in hard copy, on Spotify and on iTunes. Watch this space!
