UPDATE: A private benefactor has stepped in to cover costs!
UPDATE: A private benefactor has stepped in to get us to The BMJ!
We'll be contacting donors to ask if they'd like Nutriri to use their kind support towards our next travel commitment or prefer a refund.
Either way we've been blown away by the generous support and interest.
=======================================================
We'll never know if Nutriri has taken the fastest route; we've simply took the routes available to us at the time (without selling out to d!et culture!)...
...and now we've been invited to the BMJ!
Since 2015 we've been listening and gathering people's experiences of weight talk in healthcare, workplaces, in society and families to create training and a community that can support people without surveilling weight. Simple enough?!
We are yet to crack the funding landscape whilst the big bucks still go to "weight management".
Not for the want of trying.. here's our most recent 'no' to a funding bid...

We're a registered social enterprise (with a full parent charity currently in application). I used to get embarrassed and frustrated at the s l o w p r o g r e s s but maybe it's the only way it could have happened.
I share below the Problem Summary that got Nutriri invited to the BMJ in November. (Tickets are usually 2 days = £300 - £1800 ours are complimentary) Here's the back story to why I've started this short Crowdfunder...
As Nutriri's founder I'm one of the lucky few who receive financial support from DWP Access To Work programme designed to keep disabled people in work. I'm also one of the unlucky many to have had this support severely cut at my last 3 year renewal in January 2024. For context DWP are only just responding to a travel and accommodation claim from May 2024. I can't begin to calculate and express the ongoing impact of this on Nutriri and my personal health.
To disclose a little more: I experience memory; recall and executive function difficulties to an extent that I usually travel with PA support. Resorting to attend remotely (or one of us in hybrid) to manage energy, capacity and budgets!
For this mission critical trip using split tickets and a disabled persons railcard the train is between £80-£140 depending on time of day

And a 2 room accommodation near the venue costing £436

Can you help Nutriri get to the BMJ - the accommodation is reserved and we'll need to pay or cancel by 28th October - in the event of us over funding - we'll ensure any extra will go towards the next commitment (or one of the many under/unfunded past trips!)
Thank you for any support you can offer - here's the promised Problem Summary that got Nutriri invited... do you agree or disagree? What are we missing?
Only 10% of eligible people attend Diabetes Structured Education, in some areas only 10% take up NHS Health Checks; consider these poor engagement figures against the 2% of “weight management” referrals who report 5% weight loss. (National Diabetes Audit, OHID, Fingertips Data) - Nutriri believes that weight centric policy discourages engagement and that weight neutral/inclusive services will rebuild trust, reduce disparities and achieve better health outcomes in the long term.
